What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Arthrotec For Chest Pain?

hello doc, am a young lady of 27years. i had chest pain earlier this year so i took one tablet of arthrotec cause i was suspecting i had ulcer. In less than 30minutes i started bleeding from my vagina, it was not yet time for my period so i was really worried. i went to see my doctor, a scan was done as well as a pregnancy test, d scan was clear nd d test negative, by d next day d bleeding reduced den stopped on d third day without any medication. my worry is, why did d arthrotec cause bleeding wen am not pregnant? this same incident happnd 3yrs ago wen i took d same arthrotec, am very much worried as to y it happnd.

Arthrotec contains a combination of diclofenac and misoprostol. Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Misoprostol reduces stomach acid and replaces protective substances in the stomach that are reduced by NSAIDs.
Misoprostol is used to cause abortion, it gives contractions and its purpose is also to cause vaginal bleeding.
You don't have to worry about it.
