What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Taking I-pill?

I had sex with my gf after her monthly period, lets say after a week, and took i pills the same day, and she got periods again within a week. Is this safe? We are very confused... help us.. And please tell me everything about un secured sex, i pill usage and how it working.. and if you have any suggestions... .....thank you..
