What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Unprotected Intercourse?

I had unprotected sex December 6th. I got my period unexpectedly on December 8th. It s different than all my other periods because it s light, no bloating, no cramps, and my breasts are not sore and they always get sore. Is it just my period or should I still test for pregnancy ?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Source of vaginal bleeding post intercourse is mostly cervix ( the lower part of uterus). The bleeding is different from normal period, bleeding from cervix is pinkish red in colour & is light lasting for just 1-2 days. Even when cervix is healthy, vigorous sex can cause some bleeding. This mostly occurs when you have vaginal dryness or less vaginal lubrication.
However bleeding from cervix can be because of some abnormality in cervix. In case of cervix abnormality, even gentle sex can cause much bleeding. If you have never got a pap smear test done previously, You are advised a pap smear to ruleout a cervix problem.

Other reason is implantation bleeding. This bleeding occurs after conception & occurs about a week after intercourse in some women. To ruleout you should do a pregnancy test.

Refer to a gynaecologist.
Hope this information helps
