What Causes Vaginal Bleeding And Brown Spotting After Taking Plan B?

I took plan b on the 7th of June, literally 45 mins after sex when the condom broke. A week later I witnessed some bleeding that lasted for about 5-6 days (the amount increased as the days went on and I very minimal cramps and nausea) Now that the bleeding ended I have been getting gooey brownish discharge, am I pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
Your bleeding and spotting is due to plan B pill. Plan B contain high progesterone and it cause withdrawal bleeding in 50 percent women 5-7 days after taking the plan B pill. It cause temporary disruption of menstrual cycle because of hormonal imbalance.
There is no chance of pregnancy as you taken I pill with in the 45 minutes and in presence of bleeding.
Other cause like vaginal infection should be rule out by swab test by consulting the gynecologist if bleeding will not stop.
Maintain pelvic hygiene and use V vaginal wash for proper hygiene.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
