What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Despite Taking Norethisterone ?

Hi I am taking northisterone to help reduce bleeding. I have been taking 5mg 3 times a day. Now on day 18. Had been asked to use for 3 weeks at a time then use transanemic and mefenamic acid to help control bleeding on week off.But have started bleeding. I am booked in for hysteroscopy and d&c next week to remove a growth in my uterus. I had been asked to continue northisterone until after the procedure to delay bleeding. What should I do now? Tajr a break and bleed? Keep taking northisterone and start other meds? Thanks

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The underlying cause of uterine bleeding is probably some kind of growth like polyp, hyperplasia etc., in uterus. Removal of growth will help to stop bleeding. To diagnose hyperplasia, uterine currenting or biopsy will be required. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for further work up.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
