What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Pregnancy?

Hi I am 35 years old and my last period was start date of 13th june, I took a test on Saturday before last which was possitive and saying 2-3 week gone. I started to bleed after having sex with my partner on Tuesday this week, it got heavier and I had a scan yesterday the baby measured 5.1mm and there was a sac but no heartbeat, I am still bleeding with no pain and not as much blood as a period, I do not drip it is only there when i wipe. There has also been clear jelly like stuff with blood there, I have another scan on thursday coming what are the chances of this baby being OK? I do have a ittle boy who is 3, but we do take very long to get pregnant. thanks

Hello,
The trauma due to the intercourse may have caused this condition or there may have been some genetic defect resulting in the absence of heart beat in the fetus and the imminent abortion. To assess the progress of pregnancy in the current scenario, serial titres of serum beta-hCG along with serial trans-vaginal sonograms can be taken. Doubling of titres every 2-3 days indicates positive progress. please take absolute bed rest, avoid all stress including intercourse until further instructions. Take care.
