What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Sex After Stopping Contraceptive?

I was on oral contraceptives for 16 years and have recently discontinued them to try to conceive. Occasionally I will spot during sex and that bleeding will last a few hours then stop. I ve had two normal periods since stopping bc three months ago. Is the spotting normal?
