What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Sexual Intercourse?

I'm 38 years old and had sex today for the first time in 5 years (I have a seven year old son and was active before) an during the act I started bleeding. My period is due 22nd; could you say if this bleeding is normal, as this has never happened to me before
