Hi Jamie,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Bleeding after sex refers to having 'vaginal bleeding' during or just after sexual intercourse when you're not menstruating. It is also called 'post-coital bleeding'.
There are many reasons why a woman might bleed after sex. Bleeding per vagina after sex should not be taken lightly. The following could be the causes:
1. Infection like
pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), or a sexually transmitted infection (STI), like chlamydia, or
2. Mechanical injuries leading to damage to the vagina, such as tears caused or by dryness or friction during sex.
3. Cervical or endometrial polyps.
4. Inflammation of the
cervix -
Cervicitis.
Depending on any other symptoms associated and your medical history, the following things has to be done to evaluate for the cause:
1.
Pregnancy test
2. Pelvic examination through per vaginal examination
3. Per speculum examination to visualize the cervix
Kindly visit Gynecologist in this regard for appropriate management of the cause accordingly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
