What Causes Vaginal Bleeding While On Depo Shots?

Hi im 30 and not had a period now for around 5 years due to having the depo injection and then the implant which is due to come out 5th august 2011. yesterday tho i got up and had started bleeding, its quite heavy and quite a bright red not a browny red. should i be worried or could this be normal.
