What Causes Vaginal Discharges Mid Cycle?

I am on levlen ed birth control pill for just over a year now and have had no problems i very often run the packets through together without taking the sugar pills, recently i have increased my excersize by quite alot but i have also been experiencing brown discharge, almost like a brown blood, can you explain what this is and what i can do to stop it ?
