What Causes Vaginal Discomfort And Irritation?

My vulva feels bruised on the right side for a month. Before this my dr gave me a steriod cream because I had BV and was irritated. I used the cream and it irritated me worse. I stopped using and now I feel like someone punched me in vagina. Im scared this wont heal. Could that cream have caused permanent damage?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. It is highly unlikely that the cream has caused any damage, and at the most you would have suffered an allergic reaction, which would have soon subsided. I would recommend a revisit to your doctor and the initiation of a substitute antibiotic which should help clear the infection that is causing your presentation.

Best wishes,
Dr. Shoaib Khan
