What Causes Vaginal Discomfort During Urination While Using Tampon?

I have just started using tampons yesterday, after using pads for the past year and a half. When I insert the tampon, I feel fine, but when I go pee or move my leg super high, I feel pressure where the tampon is. Is this happening because I m putting to much pressure on my vaginal area, or is it because I ve inserted it wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vaginal discomfort during urination after the use of tampon is commonly due to sensitive skin that react to the materials of the tampon and can cause hurt or itching due to dryness of the vagina. Menstrual fluid is enough to lubricate your vagina, however if still you are hurting than you can use water based lubricants before inserting the tampons.

If the tampons still hurting you should not push it, you can take the pads then. Get a urine test (C/S and R/E) done to detect any UTI. You may need antibiotics. Take plenty of water, stay well hydrated. Take care of your hygiene.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
