What Causes Vaginal Itching And Burning Sensation?

My vagina really itches, but i touch it and then it gets all sore and burns. Its so uncomfortable and irratating. I was thinking it could be just a yeast infection but if its serious i dont want to ignore it. What do you think it is and what should i do?
