What Causes Vaginal Itching And Irritation?

Recently I have some vulva symptoms of itching or irritation and I believe this may be due to using rough toilet paper which I plan to change right away. What are the odds that this will go away soon?
Is it possible to get similar problems by contamination from menstruation?
