Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Experiencing vaginal pain and bleeding after intercourse based on the symptoms you have put forth appears to be due to inflammation of the cervix - the lower end of the uterus that opens into the vagina called as 'Cervicitis'. It may be caused by a number of factors like infections, chemical or physical irritations and allergies.
You need to undergo a pelvic exam and per speculum examination to take closer look at the cervix. Also the swab of the cervix has been taken in your case, which would be assessed for the presence of harmful bacteria or viruses. Hence, kindly wait for the report, so that you may be treated accordingly.
You may not require treatment for if the report indicates it is not a sexually transmitted infection.
Otherwise, depending on what organism is causing the infection, you need to be treated with a course of either with Antibiotics or Antifungal medications or Antiviral medications.
It is recommend that your partner also needs to be treated to make sure you don't get infected again. You need to abstain from sexual activities until you and your partner have finished treatment.
You can decrease your risk of getting cervicitis by taking the following measures:
1. Your partner should always use condoms during intercourse.
2. Limit the number of partners you have intercourse with, if you are having more than one partner.
3. Don't have intercourse with a partner who has genital sores or penile discharge.
4. Don't use feminine hygiene products as these products may cause irritation of your vagina and cervix.
5. If you are diabetic, maintain good control of your blood sugar.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
