What Causes Vaginal Pain, Burning Sensations With Thick Discharges?

Please type your query here...my girlfriend call me one day and said she had pain on and in her vagina. she went to a doctor and he said he did not know what it was and it could be either herpes or something else. he gave her a cream and when she put it on it burned painfully.

it did not burn when she peed or anything. we had unprotected sex and I did NOT notice any burning on my self. the only thing i had was what looked like a small cut one time, no redness or anything, it only hurt when i touched it but it healed by it self and no burn when i peed.

my girlfriend has a white discharge that is kind of thick no strong odor to it and sometimes thicker some days then others. she still does NOT have any burning sensation when she pees or when we have sex.

I would like to know if she and my self have herpes or did she just have an infection.
