What Causes Vaginal Pain During Intercourse?

I have had sex on numerous occasions but I still find it very painful. Everytime sex comes up for disscussion I freeze up and I dont want to do it. Im scared and it stops me from having sex with my boyfriend because I always have that feeling of pain before he even penetrates me
