What Causes Vaginal Pain Post Tampon Removal?

I pulled a tampon out dry. Obviously there is normal discomfort. But it was actually painful. And now inside my vagina it is very tender or sore. Not just before the vaginal opening but up inside of me. Is there anything I can do? Did I tear my vaginal wall?.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sometimes keeping the tampon for long time or because of dryness or any possible vaginal infection can lead to pain. Usually this will subside soon, local analgesic like lignocaine jel can help. If the pain is persisting or if there is any associated vaginal discharge please go your gynecologist once get examined and take treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
