Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My gf and I had condom protected sex Saturday night, this morning she and I saw blood about a 1 by 2 spot on her underwear and she started her period about the 30th last month or the 1st this month and ended about the 6th or 7th. I pulled out way before I reached climax and we checked for tears or holes in condom and there weren t any, she hasn t had any cramps or anything. Blood is bright deep red color, not brown or pink or anything, normal bright red. It s only the second time we have done it and the prior time was 4months ago. Could this be trauma or something? We are getting very worried and don t know what to do
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. On first few occasions, bleeding or spotting after intercourse is common because there might be remnant hymen tissue which could bleed due to mechanical trauma. Hence, there is nothing much to be worried about it. However, if it continues to bleed after every-time you have intercourse, she needs to undergo per speculum examination to know what could be the cause for it. It may be due to inflammation of cervix (cervicitis), infection of vagina (vaginitis) or due to the presence of uterine or cervical polyp. She needs to consult Gynecologist for clinical evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
