Hi. I recently had unprotected sex on January 23rd which is the day I was ovulating. On January 31st, I noticed spotting that only lasted for 1 to 2 hours. On February 5th, I was supposed to start my menstrual cycle but it ended up coming today. Only thing is, there’s light bleeding but when I use the restroom, blood clots comes out. I’ve been experiencing pregnancy symptoms as far as being extremely tired, irritable, craving weird things and just been feeling different. I took multiple test on different days but they all said negative. I’m not sure what’s going on and it’s starting to scare me. What would you recommend I do or do you have any idea of what’s going on with me?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think it is obvious you weren't pregnant with all tests negative. First stage of pregnancy has non specific symptoms that can easily be confused with premenstrual syndrome.
The delayed periods you experienced come due to hormonal imbalance. Since your cycle was longer the inner lining of the uterus called endometrium most probably got larger. This explains the bigger flow you got.
Take care.
Hope I have clarified the concern.
Best regards.
