What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Taking Postinor 2?

Hello Doctor, I got my period beginning of April and after i completed it i had unprotected sex. Although i took postinor 2. Just a week later i started experiencing spotting which increased to bleeding in just a day. This is the third day and im still bleeding like its my menses. What could be wrong?

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Postinor 2 is an emmergency contraceptive.. &it contains high dose of hormones. They were added to body while menstrual cycle was just beginning.. thus creating hormonal imbalance.
The bleeding you are expiriencing at present....is withdrawal bleeding as the hormones are withdrawn from blood.
The bleeding should stop within 5 days...please note that because of the pills & hormonal imbalance ... comming period will also be delayed by 8-10 days.
Again... postinor 2 acts by postponing ovulation... so there is possibility of conception because of the postponed ovulation by postinor....To avoid it,you have to use barrier contraceptive (repeated use of postinor is not advisjable)
