What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Taking An I-Pill?

My periods were due on 4th of June but since I had a minor roleplay with no penetration , so for being on safer side I took an I pill on 28th of may (at 48th hour after the incident). I am experiencing light bleeding today. Arey there any chances of being pregnant?

Hi,

I pill is an emergency contraception that usually contains progesterone. (levonorgestrel).

If levonorgestrel is taken as directed after unprotected sex, it will decrease the chances of a pregnancy occurring.

You should know that these contraceptive form can cause several side effects like irregular menstruation, a headache and even spotting or light bleeding like in your case.

Anyway, the pregnancy can be excluded because this contraceptive form is not sure of 100%.

For these reasons, my advice is to consult a local ob-gyn for an ultrasound and some blood tests that are helpful to explain your symptom and to clarify your situation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
