What Causes Vaginal Spotting After The Periods?

i just finished my period a week ago today and now i have noticed some spotting. my period was the first one i had in two months and lasted for a week. at the beginning of my period it was very heavy and i passed some large blood clots. what could be causing this spotting now?? I am 29 years old.
