What Causes Vaginal Spotting Along With Nausea?

I take birth control pills continuously and have for years because I have endometriosis. Maybe every six months or so I will have breakthrough bleeding that only lasts a few days. However, for the past three weeks I have had spotting that seems to have now turned into a period. This has never happened before and I have been experience waves of nausea throughout the day. What could this be and does this warrant an office visit. My last Pap smear was 2/2/17.

Hello,

I would recommend you to have a pregnancy test first. You can use a urinary pregnancy test as they are easily accessible and also are very accurate. Every time a woman has irregular bleeding, a test for pregnancy is first.

It is very likely you will need a visit with your doctor as well. It might be just irregular bleeding due to hormonal imbalances (disfunctional bleeding) which is the most common cause but your doctor will need to examine you to make sure that there is no other cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
