General & Family Physician, Dr. Deepti M's Response
Hi, Oral contraceptive pills do cause breakthrough bleeding (that is bleeding in between periods). I think when you are having sex regularly, its better to consult a gynecologist and take some form of regular contraception like OCP's. You have not mentioned your age as well. If you already have kids and need spacing between kids, you can opt for hormonal IUCD like Mirena also. You can also take certain injectable contraception like Depoprovera which needs to be taken every 3 months. Your gynecologist will be able to suggest you better based on your needs, other health ailments, etc. Postinor is supposed to be taken only after unpredicted unprotected intercourse. Please dont use it regularly. It might be the reason for causing you the spotting of blood due to hormonal changes.
