What Causes Vaginal Spotting At 6th Week Of Pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant and yesterday around 1pm started light bleeding then cramping. I bled on and off until 11pm with clots but nothing resembling a fetus or sac. Bleeding subsided until this morning when it is still light but now stringy. Is this a miscarriage? How long should it last? I have 2 other daughters and miscarried by first pregnancy but had to have a d&c as my body didn't recognize the death of the fetus.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. Bleeding in 6th week [first trimester] i.e. vaginal bleeding is a common problem in early pregnancy but since there is history of miscarriage earlier thus talk with your OBGYN Doctor to exclude implantation bleeding, threatened /complete/incomplete miscarriage/ectopic pregnancy through Ultrasound and relevant investigation and examination.
