What Causes Vaginal Spotting During 6 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

I am 6weeks pregnant and have been spotting. All my counts have been doubling so everything is ok so far. This spotting I am having really has a foul smell...I can smell it when I am sitting or sometimes standing. My husband says he never smells it though. Is that something I should be concerned about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Occasional spotting during first few weeks of pregnancy should not cause much worry, provided your beta-hCG levels are increasing every 48 to 72 hours.
However, you need to be cautious to take adequate rest and avoid strenuous activity for next 2 to 4 weeks, until the pregnancy is viable with the appearance of cardiac activity. This is detected by ultrasound scan during 8 weeks of gestation.
In case frequency of spotting increases and symptoms become obvious, you need to take a ultrasound scan of the abdomen without any delay and seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
