What Causes Vaginal Spotting With Delayed Period?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I am currently two days late with my monthly cycle. I have been experiencing some very light pink spotting and mild cramps. My spotting is really not even showing on a panty liner, only when I wipe and when I placed a tampon because I thought I would be starting my cycle. When removed, I only saw cervical mucus and small amount of brown and light pink discharge. Any ideas of what might be going on?
