What Causes Vaginal Swelling?

hello, i have swelling in the skin that is right outside of my vagina (the skin that covers the clitoris). It was itching earlier but that has stopped, it started with just the left side but now the right side has started to swell also. i am also on my period and for the past few hours have been in a bus so there was quite a bit of blood everywhere around my vagina and sometimes when the blood sits for too long on the skin it can dry out and itch but it has never been this bad

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that you are suffering from an infection of vagina called vulvovaginitis. It could be due to fungal infection in the area, lack of cleanliness during periods or due to excessive use of scented soaps, bubble bath or perfumes in the area.

For relief, you can start taking Fluconazole 150 mg (Fole) once a day for 7 days. Avoid cosmetic products in the area as mentioned above. Do not wear tight fitting clothes. Instead you can switch to cotton clothing. Change the pads frequently during day.

If you do not find relief within 7 days, I would advise you to consult a gynecologist for physical examination and vaginal swab analysis.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic with your concern. I wish you feel better Soon!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
