What Causes Vaginal Tissue Discharge?

Hi, so I'm 19 years old a female about 120 lbs and i just had some vaginal tissue discharge and i was wondering what it was all about... i am on birth control (depo) so i was wondering if that had anything to do with it or if I actually did just have a miscarriage?
