What Causes Vertigo Along With Anxiety, Dizziness Blurred Vision?
Hello, my wife has been experiencing intermittent vertigo, anxiety, dizziness, pressure behind the ears and blurred vision since suffering a minor blow with a dowel rod behind her ear one month ago. She has been to the ER several times over the last month to no avail. Finally, she saw an ENT who did a focused CT scan on her ear and saw inflammation and a clover shaped abnormality in her inner ear anatomy. Now she has continued dizziness and blurred vision. She has been crying off and on for several days and is impatiently waiting for an MRI and an appointment with a Neurologist to rule out any other issues. She insists her symptoms are worsening yet she is prone to anxiety and she is scared. Should she insist on a stat MRI at a hospital or are her symptoms in line with inflammation of the inner ear? Please advise, thank you.
As your wife's symptoms started after a trauma, complete clinical evaluation is necessary. Inner ear defect doesn't cause blurring of vision but can cause vertigo. MRI brain is to be done and detailed neurological examination is necessary. Please do visit a neuro-physician as early as possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
