What Causes Vertigo Along With Tinnitus?

I have vertigo and dizziness and ringing in my ears after 3 months of neck pain. I have been to the hospital for tests where I live and had a CT of the head and xrays of the neck and shoulders and was checked by an ear nose and throat doctor. I was sent home and told that there was nothing serious after one day there. I had a second incident of vertigo and dizziness today. I have had a bad cold as well for 2.5 weeks which is now almost over. What can this be?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your vertigo &dizziness seems to be after effect of severe cold you had for past 2.5 weeks. As complication of cold eustachian tube (connecting nose, throat & ear & maintaining air pressure on ear drum normally) gets blocked to affect ear health & cause tinitus & vertigo. Rest, inhalation of steam & over the counter pill of Avomin would give some relief. Still, treatment of the cold (with possible sinusitis) would relieve it. Please consult an ENT doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
