What Causes Vertigo And Fatigue?

I am 68 yrs. old. Recently having vertigo or something because of which I had to hospitalized on last Friday in an emergency unit of a local medical centre in Denver, USA. Doctor having done all the relevant tests, examined and prescribed Meclizine 25mg to be taken trice a day to be continued for 10days. And advised to reduce the dose with improvement of my health condition. Now I am in much improved state and reduced the dose twice a day. I am scheduled to leave for India, my country on Wednesday, 9th Aug. I am in fear whether I will remain steady during this long journey. By this time the collected 20 tablets wii be exhausted. Pl. advice me accordingly.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern and following is my symptomatic approach towards my patient(s) with giddiness:

i. check with Blood pressure, neck movements, look for pallor and murmur
ii. Ask for cochlear symptoms [deafness & tinnitus] & vestibular symptoms [vertigo and nystagmus]
iii. As the doctor has done relevant tests, examination and then has prescribed you with anti vertigo drug meclizine [also an anti emetic] so prophylactic measures which you can during your journey is/are:

- avoid sudden jerky movement of the head
- Cap Becosules: twice daily
- Tab complamina [Xanthinol nicotinate]: vasodilator drug 150 mg twice daily [with meals]

PS. ADR [adverse drug reaction] with meclizine are: drowsiness, thickening of bronchial secretions, dry mouth, fatigue, blurred vision
