What Causes Vertigo While Suffering From Cold And Cough In An Elderly Person?

Hi! My mother in law aged 67years has cough and cold for past two da ys. Today morning she is complaining of vertigo . her bp is fine and we checked in morning 131/74. She is complaining of vertigo when changing sides while lying down. Is it something to worry?

It is possible that the vertigo that she is complaining is because of the viral infection (common cold) that has spread to the labyrinth (inner ear) and infection of the inner ear can also cause such symptoms. Usually it recovers once the viral infection subsides. You may not have to worry too much about it unless the symptoms persist after more than eight days.
