What Causes Very Dark Dry Blood Line?

Can you get a dried implantaion blood line (dark, almost black colour) when my very late period first started. I was sure i was pregnant twice and the only two times i have noticed this unusual line of what looks like v dark dry blood that appears just as period starts? thanks.
