What Causes Very Thick Mucus Followed By Cough After Eating Dinner?
I was trying to report that the Cystic Fibrosis page link on the Symptom Checker is not working, but it won t let me send it without an URL which I can t get back to. I am trying to get answers about extremely thick clear mucus, particularly after eating and at night, causing coughing, leading to vomiting. I have been diagnosed with narrowing of my bronchioles, caused by inflammation, probably caused by GERD. I have never smoked or been around second-hand smoke.
Thick mucus after eating and at night may be due to GERD. Acids in the throat may cause local irritation and increased mucus production which can further cause cough.
You will need Omeprazole 40 mg 30 minutes before breakfast and you should also have frequent small meals during the day and avoid food or drinks 4 hours before bedtime.
Your symptoms can not be due to Cystic Fibrosis as this generally starts to cause symptoms in childhood.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
