Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I cannot say in your particular case, but generally, local infection is one of the more common side effects of injection. This can cause elocal pain, inflammation, swelling, etc. This can then cause the nerves in the area to be irritated and will cause swelling/inflammation of the surrounding structures. Infection is a pretty big deal and needs immediate attention and antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
