Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 12 year old granddaughter has recently been blacking out. She fell in the hallway at school. She said she knew she was going down but couldn t talk to notify her teacher and she couldn t move to grab the wall. We took her to the doctor and we have upped her water intake...included high protein breakfasts...now on salt tablets...she is still blacking out without warning. She just recently blacked out going down the stairs which caused a concussion and a broken finger plus multiple bruises. Really! I don t understand why all the delays in finding out what is wrong! Are we to wait until she falls and breaks her neck? She has had trouble with UTI s in the past and just recently started her period. The doctors don t seem to think they are related. Frustrated and wanting something done to help her.
This is really sad that she is not been investigated to found out the cause.
UTI, beginning Of menses are connected. But neither of them is connected to black out spells. So in my opinion, she should consult neurologist and get done clinical examination, MRI and EEG (electroencephalogram) of brain. These will identify if any brain pathology is there or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
