What Causes Vomiting And Body Itching?

I had a cholecystectomy one year ago. Recently I experienced similar pain and vomiting. I was very jaundiced and had general body itching. I had an ErCP and it was nor possible to canulate the common bile duct due to swelling of the Ampula. An incision was made to get access. I waited 2 days and a second ERCP was done and this time selling was decreased and duct was canulated. No stones but sludge that was swept by a ballon. Visible jaundice resolved in 5 days. itch persists. Three questions 1. What are the chances of obstruction reoccurring 2 how long til the itch subsides 3 what can I do to treat the itch and prevent this from happening again

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Generally, ERCP has got good results and recurrence rate is low.

Once the obstructed duct is cannulated, the itching will settle in couple of days.

If symptoms reappear, you have to consult a gastro surgeon and get evaluated. You might require an open surgery in case of recurrence.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
