What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhea In Children?

My three grandchildren have been sick with puking and diarrhea. The started around midnight after having pizza for dinner. The first 8 hours they were very sick. Now, 3 1/2 days later, they are still throwing up and still have diarrhea just not as much. They 8, 7 and almost 5. Their mother is keeping them hydrated. She thinks that it was food poisoning from the pizza.
