What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhoea After Taking Clyndomyocin?
I have a bad abcsessed tooth. Face is swollen. I went to the dentist and they put me on clyndomyocin for it because I am allergic to amoxacillin. Well all day yesterday I was vomiting and today I have had bad diarrhea that is black and coffee groundish. I ve been taking tylenol and motrin for the pain. I m concerned whether I need to go to the er or not
Thanks for posting this question on HCM! I really appreciate your concern regarding the safety of Clyndomyocin> Apparently your vomiting and diarrhoea are due to the side effect of Clindamycin. Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat various infections. It causes the overproduction of toxin produced by Clostridium difficille (the normal bacterial found in the large intestine) resulting in severe inflammation of the lining of large intesting (Pseudomembranous enterocolitis) causing bloody diarrhoea, abdominal pain, vomiting and shock. This is a life threatening emergency and has to be treated in the hospital. You are advised to visit ER immediately.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Best regards!
