What Causes Vomiting And Nausea Despite Having Stomach Flu?

I have a 15yr old daughter who had or has a stomach virus for the past 5 days. She only threw up 2 times on the first day than felt better the next day but has been feeling naseous ever since and just threw up again. Is it something serious? No fever and has been able to eat & drink.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to acute episode of gastritis or stomach inflammation.

She may need to have antacids like Omeprazole before meals as well as motilly agents like domperidone or itapride.

If symptoms persist may need evaluation on blood counts and liver and renal functions as well as serum electrolytes for any derangements needing injectable fluids.

Soft diets and fluids intake should be encouraged.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
