Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My child, a 14 year old male, has had vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pains, and fatigue for over two weeks now. Activity causes him to vomit. His stomach pains are so bad sometimes that he says it hurts to move. His blood work came back normal. Any suggestions on what this can be? The doctors are doing stool tests now. It will be another 2 days for test results.
It is a case of acute gastroenteritis infection of stomach and intestine. Your child can be given empirical antibiotic course. Give him small meal in frequent intervals, yogurt should be included in diet, avoid excess spicy foods, maintain hydration with lots of water. For vomiting Domperidone or Metoclopramide can be prescribed.
After stool test if infection is present than it will be clear and further management can be planned. Consult a pediatrician for examination and further work-up accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
