What Causes Vomiting, Diarrhea, Headache And Neck Pain?

My daughter is 20. DX w/ strep last Friday. Been on antibiotics, a couple of days remaining. cheeks have been rosy for the past couple of days. Started throwing up and bad diarrhea around 1:30 am this morning. Now bad head, neck and teeth pain. Could this be influenza? We don t think food poisoning, we have eaten the same things. Not sure if there is a fever.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what your daughter had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it can be viral infection involving upper respiratory tract but blood counts inflammatory markers etc may be needed to look for any signs of systemic infection. Antibiotics may be needed in that case.

Meanwhile, anti-emetics like dimenhydrinate will be helpful. Keep water intake balanced and Lukewarm water, and oral rehydration salts may be needed. Antipyretics like acetaminophen can be used along.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
