What Causes Vomiting Upon Intake Of Solid Food?

My sister can t keep more then 2 bites of food down before she feels like throwing up. She can drink liquids just fine and doesn t have a history of weight or self esteem issues, she also doesn t seem to act different but has lost a lot of weight in the past two months.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query vomiting upon intake of solid food. The sympoms you mention in query can occur due to strep throat , viral pharyngitis or gastric problem. I would suggest you to avoid food like dairy products , drink warm water and do light exercises and eat light and non spicy food . If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers , proton pump inhibitor along with antibiotics and anti inflammatory and antiemetic drug . You should take diet rich in laxatives and probiotics. You should take plenty of fluids in diet.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
