What Causes Watery Green Stools In A Child?

Hello...my baby is 5 months n a week old...from last one week, he is passing loose n greenish water poop.... At first.. He vomited then started loose greenish motion... He has taken caricef antibiotic for 5 days... He is now on zincat n new flora n smecta but no particular relief.... One thing that i have noticed that he passes stool right after he takes his milk dose..he is on bf1 milk.... Plz help me

Hello,

It seems your kid is having viral diarrhea. Once it starts it will take 5-7 days to completely get better. Unless the kid's having low urine output or very dull or excessively sleepy or blood in motion or green bilious vomiting...you need not worry.
There is no need to use antibiotics unless there is blood in the motion. Antibiotics might worsen if unnecessarily used causing antibiotic associated diarrhea.
I suggest you use zinc supplements and ORS as hydration is very important and crucial part of treatment. If there is vomiting you can use Syrup Ondansetron (as prescribed by your pediatrician).
Passing stools right after milk is Gastrocolic reflex and does not need treatment. It is physiological.
