What Causes Weakness And Tingling Sensation In Arm After Having Epidural Injection?
Had epidural injections yesterday in C4, it has been 12hrs, RT arm weakness, tingling down arm, feeling shakey, dizziness when trying to stand, pain is almost unbearable. Called Dr with no response, I have taken ibuprofen and Tylenol with no help at all.
Weakness & tingling in the arm associated with shakiness and dizziness with severe pain may be due to the side effects like low blood pressure, headache, feeling of sickness, inadequate pain relieve, etc. Back pain may feel worse for 2 to 3 days following the injection due to irritation of the medication near the nerve, temporary nerve injury or from the steroid itself.
You should begin feeling pain relief within a few days. Side effects go away in 1-3 days. In case, the discomfort prolongs then you should get a follow up clinical examination done. You may have to get few tests & investigations done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. You will be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
