What Causes Weakness, Confusion And Hallucinations?
I think I may be suffering from hypocalcemia, this year I have been acting strange.. All of my loved ones noticed and started turning away from me. I have experienced weakness, confusion, anger, anxiety / depression and hallucinations. Although I don t know if my calcium intake is good or bad. I eat a bowl of cereal about 5 times a week... I apologize if this is confusing..
Abnormal levels of electrolytes such as calcium can cause problems but if you use cereal with milk 5 times a week then it is unlikely that your calcium levels are very significantly low to cause such severe problems.
It should still be ruled out however by blood tests, other tests can also be done to look for other electrolyte abnormalities, infection and also to check liver and kidney function. Brain imaging may also be needed to rule out a structural causes as well. This would in the form of a CT or MRI.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
