Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my grandson will not bear weight on left leg. He has no fever. He has not been sick recently. He crawls all over the house. You can touch his leg and hip everywhere and move his foot, ankle, knee, etc.... with no problem. But he won t bear any weight on it. Has been going on for 6 days. Have been unable to get him in to see his doctor. Have tried giving him children s motrin. He will not go to the park, play on his trampoline or play with his friends if he has to walk. This is out of character for him. What do you think?
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It can be some acute demyelinating disease like GBS or polymyopathy. Detailed evaluation is needed to find out what exactly causing the symptoms. You have to consult a pediatric neurologist for your child and get evaluated. He might require detailed evaluation including MRI scan and sometimes a lumbar puncture.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks.
